Tattoo Aftercare

Congratulations on your new tattoo!!

After care is a very important part of the entire tattooing process. Here are some instructions when using any derm shield type of bandage.

Always wash your hands prior to caring for your tattoo during the healing process.

You will need the following items:

  • Anti-bacterical soap

  • A &D ointment or Aguafor

  • Plain unscented lotion

 1. Leave the piece of derm shield on for 2-4 days.

  • If your tattoo is bleeding under the shield and is filled, move on to step number 2 prior to 2-4 days.

 2. Remove the derm shield bandage.

  • If the adhesive on the bandage makes it uneasy to peel off, stepping into the shower to water and lathering (use anti-bacterial soap) it may help.

 3. Wash your tattoo using warm to hot water and anti-bacterial soap.

  • Work a good lather to wash thoroughly and carefully.

 4. Dry your tattoo

  • its best to let your tattoo air dry but if time presses, use a clean towel and pat.

5. Apply ointment or lotion.

  • use a small amount just to cover your tattoo with a thin layer.

  • Depending on what day you remove your bandage will dictate if you use ointment after your wash or lotion. If you take your bandage off less than four days, use ointment after washing. Five days or more use lotion after washing.

Two weeks following your fresh new ink do not:

  • expose your tattoo to direct sunlight

  • submerse your tattoo in any type of water

  • pick or scratch your tattoo

**Please note**

Redness around your tattoo that doesn't go away could be a sign of infection. If your experiencing this, see your doctor immediately, do not wait.
